On board our luxury air-conditioned bus, allow our professional English speaking guide to walk you through Athens of yesterday and today, starting off an unforgettable sight-seeing tour at the Panathenaic Stadium or Kallimarmaro, host of the first Olympic Games in 1896, Zappeion Hall and the colossal Temple of Olympian Zeus.

The Athens Trilogy will follow next, showcasing the three indisputable jewels of Athenian neoclassical architecture: the University of Athens, the Academy, the country’s highest research establishment, and the National Library.

As we move on to the National Garden and the Arch of Hadrian, note the two inscriptions on the arch, facing in opposite directions, naming both Theseus and Hadrian as founders of Athens. St. Paul’s Church, one of the earliest foreign churches in Athens, is next as well as the Parliament and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the cenotaph dedicated to fallen Greek soldiers. Moving on to Schliemann’s House (Numismatic Museum), which houses one of the greatest collections of ancient and modern coins in the world, we will also discover the Catholic Cathedral, the Old Parliament, the Constitution Square  and the Russian Orthodox Church.

The ancient citadel of the Acropolis follows, of which words fail to convey the historic significance, and we will undoubtedly marvel at the monuments which have withstood the ravages of past centuries, both of ancient times and those of the Middle Ages. Set your eyes on the Propylaea Gateway, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon, and the Erechtheum with its famous Porch of Maidens, renowned largely for its complexity and for the exquisite perfection of its details. Weave your way through cornerstones of history, walking the paths once taken by great thinkers and philosophers that time still honors. As your expert guide helps you immerse in the mythology and history of the Parthenon, you will study its classical Doric columns which are undeniably the first image on anyone’s mind when they mention Greece.

Stroll by the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and Theatre of Dionysus, at the foot of the Acropolis, as we make our way to the award winning Acropolis Museum which spans a total area of 25,000 square meters, with exhibition space of over 14,000 square meters. There is no need to wait in ticket lines and you will soon find yourself surrounded by a plethora of unique attractions, ranging from statues of the archaic period to the Caryatids and of course to the Parthenon’s frieze, metopes and pediments.

The imagery and historic value of this day will unquestionably stay with you forever.
